Food Bank
Laurier’s first student based and student run food bank aimed at helping students in need to meet their basic dietary and nutritional needs opened in October 2006. The Student Food Bank features a completely anonymous system in which applicants use the form found directly on this site, e-mail it to the committee and a food hamper containing meals lasting up to a week or more will be placed in a locker on campus for the student to pick up.
The Student Food Bank is a member of the Food Bank of Waterloo Region Network and continues to research into dietary needs and trends in order to constantly update its inventory and policies. For students who are not in need of the service but wish to help with its fundraising efforts look for information and food drives to be held each month throughout the year.
As of September 2008, the Student Food Bank will now provide both non-perishable items and freezer foods, in order to better serve the needs of Laurier students. This option will also be available on the Request Form.
The Student Food Bank is dedicated to efficiently serving all Laurier students, whether they are in need for financial reasons, or because of any other reality of student life such as extreme workloads, part time jobs, chaotic schedules, or the stress of exams.
